Abstract:Objective To evaluate the acceptability of human papillomavirus vaccine (HPV)among men and the risk factors correlated to it. Methods we searched“China Biology Medicine disc”,“China National Knowledge Infrastructure”,“Wanfang Database”and“National Center for Biotechnology Information”to locate studies that examined the acceptability of HPV vaccine and/or its risk factors. Pooled estimate of the rate of the acceptability of HPV among men and its standard deviation (SD)were calculated. Pooled estimates of correlation coefficient(r)between the risk factors and the acceptability of HPV among men were calculated. Results A total of 22 studies were included. The pooled acceptability rate of HPV among men was(51.0±19.7)%. Perceived HP-Virus susceptibility(r=0.25),perceived HP-Virus infection severity(r=0.09),understand HPV knowledge(r=0.09),perceived HPV effectiveness(r=0.51),doctor’s recommendation on HPV vaccination(r=0.42),high level of education (r=0.08)and more sexual partners(r=0.18)would increase the acceptability of HPV among men, while fear of side effects (r=-0.09)and poor accessibility(r=-0.16)would decrease the the acceptability of HPV. Conclusion A moderate level of HPV acceptability among men was found in this study. Social mobilization, health education and adjustment of the immunization service model may support HPV vaccine acceptability for men.
