Abstract:Objective To analyze the characteristics of HIV/AIDS cases in Hongze District, Huai'an City, Jiangsu Province from 2006 to 2024, so as to provide a reference for developing targeted AIDS prevention and control measures. Methods Data on HIV/AIDS cases in Hongze District from 2006 to 2024 were collected through the HIV/AIDS Comprehensive Control System of Chinese Disease Prevention and Control Information System. Descriptive analysis was conducted on the population distribution, regional distribution, routes of transmission, and case detection methods of HIV/AIDS cases. Results A total of 109 newly reported HIV/AIDS cases were identified in Hongze District from 2006 to 2024, with an average annual reported incidence of 1.72/105. The average annual reported incidence was higher in males than in females (3.01/105 vs. 0.47/105, P<0.05). The age groups of 20-<30 years and ≥50 years reported higher numbers of newly diagnosed HIV/AIDS cases, with 35 cases (32.11%) and 29 cases (26.61%), respectively. A total of 24 deaths among HIV/AIDS cases were reported, with an average annual reported mortality of 0.38/105. The average annual reported mortality was 0.67/105 for males and 0.09/105 for females, with no statistically significant difference (P>0.05). The age groups of 30-<40 years and ≥50 years each had 7 deaths, accounting for 29.17% each. Farmers constituted the majority of both newly reported cases and deaths, with 50 cases (45.87%) and 18 cases (75.00%), respectively. Gaoliangjian Subdistrict, Zhuba Subdistrict, and Sanhe Town had higher numbers of newly reported cases, with 50 cases (45.87%), 12 cases (11.01%), and 12 cases (11.01%), respectively. Chahe Town, Gaoliangjian Subdistrict, and Zhuba Subdistrict reported higher numbers of deaths, with 7 cases (29.17%), 5 cases (20.83%), and 5 cases (20.83%), respectively. Among newly reported HIV/AIDS cases, homosexual contact and heterosexual contact were the predominant routes of transmission, with 51 cases (46.79%) and 57 cases (52.29%), respectively. Regarding case detection methods, testing consultation and other patients seeking healthcare were the most common, with 33 cases (30.28%) and 30 cases (27.52%), respectively. Among HIV/AIDS deaths, homosexual contact and heterosexual contact were the predominant routes of transmission, with 19 cases (79.17%) and 4 cases (16.67%), respectively. Regarding case detection methods, other patients seeking healthcare and testing consultation were the most common, with 12 cases (50.00%) and 5 cases (20.83%), respectively. Conclusions The reported incidence and mortality of HIV/AIDS cases in Hongze District from 2006 to 2024 remained at relatively low levels. Males, young and middle-aged adults, and farmers were the key populations. Gaoliangjian Subdistrict and Zhuba Subdistrict were the key areas. Sexual contact was the primary route of transmission.
