Abstract:Objective To understand the levels of vitamins A,D and E in children aged 3-6 years in Nanhu District of Jiaxing,to provide a basis for preventing vitamin deficiency in children.Methods Children in 36 kindergartens in Nanhu District of Jiaxing were selected for serum vitamin determination. The concentrations of vitamin A(VA)and vitamin E(VE)were determined by high performance liquid chromatography(HPLC). The levels of serum 25-hydroxyvitamin D[25(OH)D]were determined by tandem mass spectrometry. The vitamin levels of children of different genders and ages were analyzed.Results A total of 3 414 children aged 3-6 years were selected,which included 1 859 boys,accounting for 54.45%; and 1 555 girls,accounting for 45.55%. The serum VA level was 0.35(0.09)μg/mL,the rate of insufficient detection was 18.31%,the lack rate was 0.88%; the serum 25(OH)D level was 23.00(7.70)ng/mL,the rate of insufficient detection was 22.55%,and the lack rate was 7.00%; the serum VE level was 7.80(2.00)mg/L,the rate of insufficient detection was 2.46%,and the lack rate was 1.00%. There was no significant difference in the normal rate,the rate of insufficient detection,and the lack rate of serum VA between boys and girls(P>0.05). The rate of insufficient detection and the lack rate of 25(OH)D in girls were significantly higher than boys (P<0.05). The rate of insufficient detection and the lack rate of VE in girls were significantly lower than boys (P<0.05). The normal rate,the rate of insufficient detection and the lack rate of VA and 25(OH)D in children aged 3-6 years increased with age(P<0.05). The normal rate,the rate of insufficient detection and the lack rate of VE showed no trend with age (P>0.05).Conclusion A certain proportion of children aged 3-6 years in Nanhu District had deficiency in vitamin A,D and E. The VD and VE levels between boys and girls were different.
