Abstract:Objective To compare the epidemiological characteristics of hepatitis A before and after the inclusion of hepatitis A vaccine in expanded program on immunization(EPI)in Huzhou. Methods The data of hepatitis A cases, immunization of hepatitis A vaccine from 1998 to 2017 in Huzhou were collected, epidemic strength, time, population and the effect of hepatitis A vaccine inoculation on the epidemic of hepatitis A was analyzed. Results A total of 3 194 hepatitis A cases were reported in Huzhou from 1998 to 2017. The average annual incidence of hepatitis A was 5.76/100 000,which was tended to decrease(P<0.05). The annual incidence rate decreased from 10.23/100 000 before EPI to 1.72/100 000 after EPI(P<0.05). The incidence rate among male(13.31/100 000)was higher than that among female(7.04/100 000)before EPI(P<0.05). There was no significant difference between incidence rate among male(1.94/100 000)and female(1.50/100 000)after EPI(P>0.05). The incidence of hepatitis A after EPI in all age groups was lower than that before EPI(P<0.05). There was no case report in children less than 15 years old after the year 2015. The coverage rate of hepatitis A vaccine increased from 9.09% to 99.25% among children aged 18-24 months after EPI. The incidence of hepatitis A was negatively correlated with vaccination rate among children aged 0-14 years(rs=-0.807,P<0.05).Conclusion After the hepatitis A vaccine was included in the EPI in Huzhou, the vaccination rate increased, the incidence of hepatitis A decreased, and the gender gap narrowed.
