Abstract:Objective To learn the epidemiology of viral hepatitis in China from 2004 to 2016 and to provide reference for the improvement of viral hepatitis prevention and control. Methods According to the epidemic profile of notifiable diseases in China released by the National Health and Family Planning Commission from 2004 to 2016,the incidence and trends of viral hepatitis in China during the 13 years were analyzed. There were 0. 616 million hepatitis A cases,15.41 million hepatitis B cases,2.021 million hepatitis C cases,0.307 million hepatitis E cases and 0.733 million undifferentiated hepatitis cases, with the annual average incidence of 3.6/100 000,88.7/100 000,11.5/100 000,1.8/100 000 and 4. 3/100 000, respectively. The incidence of viral hepatitis in China presented a gentle decline and flat tendency, but was still at a high level. The incidence of hepatitis A,hepatitis B and the undifferentiated hepatitis showed a downtrend with annual average declining rates of 12.1%,2.5% and 11.5%,respectively;the incidence of hepatitis C rose in an annual average growth rate of 14.4%;while the incidence of hepatitis E was characterized by fluctuation at a relatively low level. Generally, the mortality rate of viral hepatitis declined and the annual average rate was 0.67/1 000 000. Conclusion From 2014 to 2016,the morbidity and mortality of viral hepatitis in China dropped gradually, yet the occurrence of hepatitis B was still at a high level; the incidence of hepatitis C had a increasing trend.
