Abstract:Objective To investigate the awareness status and influencing factors of core information on chronic disease prevention and control among residents in Taishun County, Zhejiang Province, so as to provide the evidence for conducting health education on chronic diseases. Methods In 2024, a multistage random cluster sampling method was adopted to select permanent residents aged ≥18 years from 10 villages (neighborhood committees) across 5 townships in Taishun County as study subjects. The Questionnaire on Awareness of Core Information for Chronic Disease Prevention and Control was used to collect demographic data and core information on chronic disease prevention and control, and the overall awareness rate of core chronic disease prevention and control information was calculated. Multivariable logistic regression model was employed to analyze the influencing factors associated with awareness of core chronic disease prevention and control information. Results A total of 3 055 questionnaires were distributed, and 3 010 valid questionnaires were recovered, with an effective response rate of 98.53%. Among all participants, 1 543 were males (51.26%) and 1 467 were females (48.74%). The mean age of respondents was (46.04±16.63) years. In total, 2 073 participants mastered the core information of chronic disease prevention and control, yielding an overall awareness rate of 68.87%. Multivariate logistic regression analysis demonstrated that age group (18-<45 years, OR=1.702, 95%CI: 1.304-2.221; 45-<60 years, OR=1.284, 95%CI: 1.034-1.596), educational level (primary school or below, OR=0.244, 95%CI: 0.173-0.346; middle school, OR=0.346, 95%CI: 0.258-0.466), and occupation (agriculture/forestry/animal husbandry/fishery/production and transportation workers, OR=2.038, 95%CI: 1.514-2.744; professional technicians/administrative/clerical staff, OR=2.193, 95%CI: 1.539-3.126) were independent influencing factors for the awareness of core chronic disease prevention and control information. Conclusions The awareness rate of core chronic disease prevention and control information among residents in Taishun County was 68.87%, which was close to the target of 70% set for 2025 in the Medium- and Long-Term Plan for the Prevention and Treatment of Chronic Diseases in China (2017-2025). Targeted health education interventions should be strengthened for residents aged ≥60 years, residents with middle school or lower educational attainment, and residents not engaged in agriculture, forestry, animal husbandry, fishery, production, transportation, professional technical, administrative or clerical jobs.
