Abstract:Objective To investigate awareness rate of core information of chronic disease prevention and control and its influencing factors among adult residents in Chengdu City, Sichuan Province, so as to provide the reference for formulating health education strategies and intervention measures for chronic disease prevention and control. Methods From July to August 2024, a multi-stage stratified random sampling method was employed to select permanent residents aged ≥18 years from 6 national mortality monitoring sites in Chengdu City as the study subjects. Demographic information and awareness of core information on chronic disease prevention and control were collected through the Questionnaire on Awareness of Core Information on Chronic Disease Prevention and Control, and the overall awareness rate and individual awareness rates were calculated. Factors affecting awareness of core information on chronic disease prevention and control among adult residents were analyzed using a multivariable logistic regression model. Results A total of 2 808 residents were investigated, including 1 268 males (45.16%) and 1 540 females (54.84%). A total of 2 033 individuals were aware of the core information on chronic disease prevention and control, with an overall awareness rate of 72.40%. The overall awareness rate showed a decreasing trend with increasing age (P<0.05). Among the core information on chronic disease prevention and control, the awareness rate for "four major categories of chronic diseases seriously endanger population health and impose a heavy burden on individuals, families and society" was relatively high (94.80%), the individual awareness rate for "the diagnostic criteria for hypertension in adults aged ≥18 years" was relatively low (45.76%). Multivariable logistic regression analysis revealed that female (OR=1.266, 95%CI: 1.068-1.501), aged 18 to <45 years (OR=1.860, 95%CI: 1.491-2.230), urban (OR=1.875, 95%CI: 1.574-2.234), and in national comprehensive chronic disease prevention and control demonstration areas (OR=1.304, 95%CI: 1.089-1.560) .had a significantly higher likelihood of being aware of core information on chronic disease prevention and control. Conclusions The overall awareness rate of core information on chronic disease prevention and control among adults residents in Chengdu City is relatively high, but exists the issue of low individual awareness rates. Gender, age, region, and the level of comprehensive chronic disease prevention and control demonstration areas are influencing factors for the awareness of core information on chronic disease prevention and control among adult residents.
