Abstract：Objective To understand the quality of life among the elderly in nursing homes in Jiangsu Province and its influencing factors, so as to provide the basis for improving quality of life among the elderly population. Method Elderly people aged 60 and above living in 6 nursing homes in Nanjing City, Suzhou City, Changzhou City, and Zhenjiang City were selected as the research subjects using the convenient sampling method from March to June 2024. Basic information, entertainment activity, physical activity, emotion, chronic disease, self-assessed health status, and life satisfaction were collected through questionnaire surveys. Quality of life was evaluated using the Short Form 36 Health Survey Questionnaire, including physical health and mental health. Factors affecting physical health and mental health among the elderly in nursing homes were identified with a multiple linear regression model. Results A total of 438 people were surveyed, including 267 males (60.96%) and 171 females (39.04%), with an average age of (83.43±9.27) years. The average scores of physical health and mental health were (50.67±23.08) points and (57.45±19.64) points, respectively. Multiple linear regression analysis showed that age (60 to <80 years, β'=0.082), physical activity (yes, β'=0.167), emotion (good, β'=0.359; generally, β'=0.197), self-assessed health status (good, β'=0.249; generally, β'=0.152) and life satisfaction (satisfaction, β'=0.592; generally, β'=0.142) were factors affecting physical health among the elderly in nursing homes. Retirement/pension (yes, β'=0.169), medical insurance category (urban employees' medical insurance, β'=-0.212), physical activity (yes, β'=0.210), chronic diseases (no, β'=0.104; 1 to 2 types, β'=0.081), emotion (good, β'=0.316; generally, β'=0.111), self-assessed health status (good, β'=0.277; generally, β'=0.211) and life satisfaction (satisfaction, β'=0.427; generally, β'=0.067) were factors affecting mental health among the elderly in nursing homes. Conclusion The quality of life among the elderly in nursing homes in Jiangsu Province is relative poor, mainly affected by physical activity, emotion, self-assessed health status, and life satisfaction.
