Abstract:Objective To explore the correlation of serum free androgen index(FAI)with anti-Mullerian hormone(AMH)and insulin resistance(IR)in patients with polycystic ovary syndrome(PCOS). Methods We enrolled totally 113 untreated PCOS patients and divided them into two groups according to Homeostasis model assessment of insulin resistance(HOMA-IR):59 cases in the non-insulin resistance(PCOS-NIR)group and 54 cases in the insulin resistance(PCOS-IR)group. Then we chose another 55 healthy women at the childbearing age as the control group. AMH,follicle-stimulating hormone(FSH),luteinizing hormone(LH),testosterone(T),sex hormone binding globulin(SHBG),Dehydroepiandrosterone sulfate(DHEAS)and insulin(INS)were detected in the three groups,and the correlation of FAI with AMH and IR were analyzed. Results The AMH,LH,LH/FSH,T,FAI levels of PCOS-NIR group and PCOS-IR group were higher than that of control group(P<0.05). The BMI,DHEAS,INS and HOMA-IR levels of PCOS-IR group were higher than that of PCOS-NIR group(P<0.05);the SHBG level of PCDS-IR group was lower than that of PCOS-NIR group(P<0.05) . The Pearson correlation analysis suggested that FAI had a negative correlation with SHBG and a positive correlation with AMH,LH,LH/FSH and DHEAS(P<0.05). Conclusion The level of serum FAI in patients with PCOS significantly increased,which correlates closely with IR and the level of AMH. This study can provide a new reference for the clinical diagnosis of PCOS.
