Abstract:Objective To explore the quality of life and its influencing factors of the family who lost their only child in communities, and to provide basis for improving their life quality. Methods From March to August in 2017,a total of 253 stratified family members who lost their only child in Hangzhou were selected by the stratified and convenient sampling method. A questionnaire survey was conducted using the Depression Scale(GDS),Social Support Rating Scale(SSRS)and European Five-Dimensional Health Scale(EQ-5D). Mixed linear models were used to analyze the influencing factors for the quality of life. Results We effectively investigated 235 subjects,of whom 112 were men, accounting for 47.66%,and 123 were women, accounting for 52. 34%,with an average age of(65.68±7.63)years. The median score of GDS was 8(10) points, and the rate of depression was 35. 32%. The median score of SSRS was 34(14)points. The median EQ-5D index was 0.85(0.08). The score of Visual Analog Scale(VAS)was 70(10)points. The mixed linear model analysis showed that the subjects who had very good/good health status(β=0.059,P<0.001),in marriage(β=0.028,P=0.043)and low education level(β=14.475,P=0.040)was more likely to have high quality of life. Conclusion The family members who lost their only child have lower quality of life, and health status, marital status and education level are the main factors for their quality of life.
