| Trend in incidence of stroke in Wucheng District from 2015 to 2024 |

Abstract Objective To analyze the incidence trend of stroke in Wucheng District, Jinhua City, Zhejiang Province from 2015 to 2024, so as to provide a basis for improving the regional stroke prevention and control strategies. Methods Data on stroke cases in Wucheng District from 2015 to 2024, including gender, age and stroke subtypes, were collected from the Zhejiang Provincial Chronic Disease Surveillance Information Management System. The crude incidence of stroke was analyzed, and the standardized incidence was calculated using the age composition of the standard population from the Sixth National Population Census in 2010. The average annual percent change (AAPC) was used to analyze the trend in incidence of stroke stratified by gender, age and stroke subtypes. Results A total of 25 456 stroke cases were reported in Wucheng District from 2015 to 2024. The crude incidence was 390.62/105, showing an upward trend (AAPC=4.161%, P<0.05). The standardized incidence was 253.48/105, with no statistically significant trend (AAPC=-3.219%, P>0.05). The crude incidence of stroke in males and females were 456.95/105 and 325.28/105, respectively, both presenting upward trends (AAPC=4.961%, 3.138%, both P<0.05). The standardized incidence of stroke in males and females were 309.25/105 and 200.11/105, respectively. The standardized incidence in females showed a downward trend (AAPC=-4.442%, P<0.05), while no significant trend was observed in males (AAPC=-2.386%, P>0.05). The crude incidence of stroke in the groups aged <40 years, 40-<50 years, 50-<60 years, 60-<70 years, 70-<80 years and ≥80 years were 10.01/105, 103.09/105, 321.89/105, 854.07/105, 1 702.21/105 and 3 597.14/105, respectively, among which the crude incidence in the ≥80 years group showed a downward trend (AAPC=-6.094%, P<0.05). The standardized incidence of ischemic stroke, hemorrhagic stroke and unclassified stroke were 200.72/105, 51.23/105 and 1.53/105, respectively. The standardized incidence of hemorrhagic stroke and unclassified stroke showed downward trends (AAPC=-8.292%, -15.449%, both P<0.05). Conclusions The crude incidence of stroke increased in Wucheng District from 2015 to 2024. Males and the elderly aged ≥80 years are high-risk populations, and ischemic stroke is the predominant subtype.
