| Comorbidity of hypertension, diabetes mellitus, and dyslipidemia among residents in a district of Beijing Municipality |

Abstract Objective To investigate the prevalence and affecting factors for the comorbidity of hypertension, diabetes mellitus, and dyslipidemia among residents aged 18-79 years in a certain district of Beijing Municipality, so as to provide the evidence for the formulation of comprehensive prevention and control measures for the integrated management of these diseases. Methods From August 2022 to June 2023, residents aged 18-79 years in a certain district of Beijing Municipality were selected as study participants using a combination of multistage random sampling and proportional-to-population sampling. Demographic information, body mass index (BMI), and blood biochemical indicators were collected through questionnaires, physical examinations, and laboratory tests to analyze the prevalence of the comorbidity of hypertension, diabetes mellitus, and dyslipidemia. Multivariable logistic regression model was used to analyze the influencing factors for the comorbidity of hypertension, diabetes mellitus, and dyslipidemia among residents. Results A total of 5 447 residents were surveyed, comprising 2 775 males (50.95%) and 2 672 females (49.05%). A total of 329 individuals had the comorbidity of hypertension, diabetes mellitus, and dyslipidemia, representing a prevalence of 6.04%. Multivariable logistic regression analysis showed that age ≥45 years (45-<60 years, OR=2.861, 95%CI: 2.028-4.037; 60-79 years, OR=4.505, 95%CI: 3.082-6.585), being married/cohabiting (OR=2.698, 95%CI: 1.282-5.677); and being divorced/widowed/separated (OR=3.229, 95%CI: 1.348-7.735), residents with a BMI classified as obese (OR=2.161, 95%CI: 1.362-3.428) and central obesity (OR=2.496, 95%CI: 1.751-3.559) had a higher risk of the comorbidity of hypertension, diabetes mellitus, and dyslipidemia. Conclusions In a certain district of Beijing, the comorbidity of hypertension, diabetes mellitus, and dyslipidemia among residents aged 18-79 years was associated with age, marital status, BMI, and central obesity. It is recommended that a multi-disease management model be adopted for high-risk populations to reduce the risk of the comorbidity of hypertension, diabetes mellitus, and dyslipidemia.
