| Prevention and control of latent tuberculosis infection in Jiangsu Province: strategies, practices, and challenges |

Abstract The prevention and treatment of latent tuberculosis infection (LTBI) is a key strategy to achieve the World Health Organization (WHO) End Tuberculosis (TB) Strategy 2035 goal. Jiangsu Province serves as a global model for LTBI control, and provide valuable experience for regional tuberculosis prevention. This paper reviews the policy evolution and implementation progress of LTBI control in Jiangsu Province. The Jiangsu province has issued a specific prevention plan. It has established a preventive treatment service system for specialized clinics and a digital service platform. Positive results have been achieved in screening key populations, promoting short-course preventive regimens, and follow-up management. Although the reported TB incidence in Jiangsu Province remains low, the LTBI detection rate is high in both the general and high-risk populations. The prevention and control of LTBI faces serious challenges, including uneven coverage of high-risk populations, room for improvement in the rate of preventive treatment, weak digital management capabilities at the grassroots level, and poor interdepartmental coordination. It is recommended to further expand screening coverage, strengthen health education to improve the acceptance and completion rates of preventive treatment, deepen multisectoral collaboration and data integration, and enhance the construction of grassroots intelligent management systems, thereby providing support for regional tuberculosis prevention and control.
