Abstract To enhance the early detection and surveillance capabilities for dengue fever outbreaks, Ningbo City, Zhejiang Province established an early warning system in 2023 leveraging its regional health and medical big data platform. By integrating clinical diagnosis data from medical institutions, laboratory testing data, and travel history information of key populations, the system focuses on symptom monitoring and surveillance of high-risk groups. It implements a tiered alert mechanism and standardised response protocols to achieve closed-loop management of warning signals. Since its implementation, the system has continuously generated warning signals. Several cases were identified and triggered verification procedures prior to clinical confirmation, providing epidemiological investigation teams with a critical time window for early intervention and containment measures. Practice demonstrates that this system plays a vital role in early detection and intervention for dengue fever surveillance and early warning. Its design philosophy and operational model offer valuable reference for constructing surveillance warning systems for other infectious diseases.
